Topic: 2020 Year End Planning

Summary: 

It is (finally) time for 2020’s year-end tax planning!  We will begin with a recap of the “final” COVID-19 related tax provisions as well as a refresher on multistate unemployment taxes.  Then we will take a deep dive into the new Form 1099-NEC and the condensed deadlines for 1099 reporting.  To help kickstart a better 2021, we will also provide an overview of the tax implications of the various employee benefits your company could offer.

Bios:

  Michael I. Berman, CPA.CITP, Partner and IT Director, KBST&M

Mike Berman is a partner with KBST&M, and serves as head of the firm’s IT Department. He has been with the firm since 1995 and has more than twenty-five years of public accounting experience. Mike’s areas of concentration have been in information technology consulting, accounting services, and individual and corporate taxation. He serves many clients in various industries, including professional services, real estate, construction, contracting, and healthcare.

 

Scott Murray, CPA, MBA, Tax Manager, KBST&M

Scott Murray is a tax manager with KBST&M with 20 years of public accounting experience. Scott’s areas of concentration include tax preparation and planning services, and accounting services. He has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, professional services, construction, distribution services, restaurants, professional services, real estate, and retail. Scott works on a wide range of tax services that includes corporations, s-corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts and estates, and non-profit organizations. Scott graduated from Stevenson University in 2001 with a degree in Computer Accounting and graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2004 with a Masters in Business Administration, which included a focus in finance. Scott resides in Perry Hall, Maryland.

 

Cj Van Hine, CPA, Tax Supervisor, KBST&M

Cj Van Hine is a tax supervisor with KBST&M.  He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Psychology before becoming a Certified Public Accountant and gaining over 5 years of public accounting experience.  Cj’s areas of concentration have been in accounting services and individual and corporate taxation.  He serves many clients in various industries, and has gained specialized experience within the dental, healthcare and real estate industries.

Charm City Payroll Association registration and cancellation policy: Meeting registrations are transferable to other employees at the same company as the original registrant, provided advance notification is provided to the CCPA by clicking here. Cancellations are allowed up to the deadline for the early registration date and are subject to a cancellation fee of $10.00. Cancellations after this date are not refundable and the full cost of the event is due.  All refunds are issued by check from the CCPA made out to to the original registering party.

  2. You can register others for the meeting by selecting the desired number of Member or Non-Member tickets.  Paid members may purchase tickets for members or non-members.  Non-members may only purchase non-member tickets.
  3. If you're a member registering other members, once you've selected your tickets, use the drop down to select the member(s) you want to register.  By default, your name will populate for each ticket .  The list is sorted alpha by last name.
  4. For non-members, type in the name and email address (optional) of each attendee.
  5. Once you've selected (or typed in) your attendees, click "Continue" to complete your payment.
  6. Each attendee will receive a registration confirmation email.
